Local rockers Choice Not Chance will performing at the Bowes Event Centre at Revolution Place on July 17.

The band will open for Billy Talent, seven-time Juno award winners.
Cody Perrotta, lead guitar/back-up vocals for Choice Not Chance, said area bands had the opportunity to submit a selection of their songs for review if they were interested in opening the show.
“I’m kind of excited for (the show). (Billy Talent) have been a pretty big influence on the entire band really, so it’s kind of a big deal,” Perrotta said.
“This for sure would be one of our biggest accomplishments as a group. We have opened for The Headstones and Finger Eleven, which are amazing bands and great opportunities, but (opening for Billy Talent) is right up there with the biggest opportunity we’ve had as a band thus far. We’re pretty honoured to be sharing the stage with those guys.”
Billy Talent have released five albums to date. Their most recent album, “Afraid of Heights”, was released in 2016.
Some of the Billy Talent’s hits over the years have included “Try Honesty”, “River Below”, “Red Flag”, “Devil in a Midnight Mass”, “Rusted from the Rain”, and “Devil on My Shoulder”.
“(We’re going to have) a lot of energy – high energy,” Perrotta said, of what to expect from their performance.
“We’re a pretty high energy band… entertaining rock through and through, really, so (people) should expect a really solid rock show the whole way through right up until Billy Talent (hit the stage), so it’s going to be a really exciting night.”
Perrotta joined Choice Not Chance six years ago after previously playing in another band. After they took some time off, Choice Not Chance “officially re-launched” in 2016, he said. The band then started recording songs and performing more live shows – something they hadn’t done often before.
To date, they have two EP’s.
Their released songs have been: “Prototype”, “The Comedown”, “Stupidity of Man”, “Silence is Your Enemy”, “Haunted by Ghosts”, “Resist” and “White Light Picture”.
Perrotta said his favourites to perform live are “Stupidity of Man” and “The Comedown” because they’re both high energy and get “the crowd really into it”.
Choice Not Chance’s music is a combination of alternative rock with punk undertones. The band is influenced by The Foo Fighters, Billy Talent, Social Distortion – to name a few, Perrotta said.
Choice Not Chance also feature Matthew Vincent (drums), Cole Beadle (bass) and Trevor Johnsen (rhythm/vocals).
